Position Overview
You'll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen by cleaning dishes, utensils, equipment, and work areas. This role plays a vital part in supporting the kitchen team and ensuring smooth restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Cleaning
Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using dishwashing machines or by hand.
Ensure all items are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored according to health and safety standards.
Keep dishwashing area clean, organized, and free of debris.
Empty trash containers and assist with recycling procedures as required.
Kitchen Support
Assist kitchen staff by keeping cookware and utensils readily available.
Maintain cleanliness of floors, prep areas, and work surfaces.
Help with light food prep tasks when needed (such as peeling, portioning, or stocking).
Assist with daily and weekly deep-cleaning tasks in the kitchen.
Safety & Sanitation
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines (ServSafe or equivalent).
Use cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly.
Report any safety hazards, broken equipment, or maintenance issues to management.
Ensure proper storage and handling of cleaning supplies.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with cooks, servers, and other staff to support smooth restaurant operations.
Communicate when clean dishes or supplies are running low.
Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude during shifts
Qualifications & Requirements
No previous experience required; training provided.
Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30–50 lbs.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Preferred Skills
Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role (not required).
Knowledge of basic sanitation practices.
Ability to multitask and stay organized.
Work Environment
Hot, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Frequent exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, and noise.
Continuous standing, bending, and lifting.
