Position Overview
You'll be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing exceptional guest service, and maintaining a clean and organized bar environment. This role requires strong mixology skills, product knowledge, customer service excellence, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation
Mix, garnish, and serve beverages according to standard recipes or guest requests.
Create specialty drinks and maintain knowledge of cocktail trends, wine lists, and beer selections.
Ensure consistent drink quality and proper portion control.
Guest Service
Greet guests warmly and provide an engaging, welcoming bar experience.
Take drink and food orders, offering recommendations based on guest preferences.
Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow all responsible beverage service guidelines.
Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
Bar Operations
Set up, stock, and break down the bar before and after shifts.
Maintain inventory of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and supplies.
Keep the bar area clean, sanitized, and organized at all times.
Operate POS system, process payments, and manage tabs accurately.
Follow all state and local alcohol service laws and company policies.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
Communicate special orders, allergies, or guest concerns to the appropriate team members.
Support co-workers during peak times and contribute to a positive work environment.
Safety & Compliance
Check IDs to verify legal drinking age.
Follow all responsible alcohol service policies (TIPS or equivalent certification preferred).
Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
Report any incidents, accidents, or equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous bartending experience preferred; skills in mixology a plus.
Strong customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Must meet minimum legal age requirements for serving alcohol.
Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and POS systems.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of classic and modern cocktails, beer, and wine.
Experience in high-volume or fine-dining environments.
Strong upselling and guest-engagement abilities.
Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, SERV Safe Alcohol).
Work Environment
Fast-paced bar or restaurant setting.
Evening, weekend, and holiday availability typically required.
Exposure to loud environments and continuous standing/walking.
